Sandy Pittard was introduced to wood turning while volunteering at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg TN

It is through this association that he was able to receive instruction from several influential turners such as David Ellsworth, Al Stirt, and Harvey Meyer.  Their influences have served to help guide the design process and overall workmanship in his turnings.
