Sue Burger – Biography of a Self-Taught Artist
Since a child I was drawn to creating miniature three dimensional pieces using cigar and candy boxes, creating little scenes with construction paper, crayons, and scotch tape. As an adult and working for a model building business allowed me to continue my interests in miniatures except this time with plastics and wood. Fortunately I was always in the design field working for advertising agencies, screen printing companies and as an industrial designer (product designer) with Motorola. While there I garnered four patents.
The American Indian and culture has always been an interest of mine and I’ve carried that interest into my present day creative activities utilizing gourds. While I have painted in water colors, three-dimensional efforts are my favorite. My work is in private collections.
I have been a member of the Boulder City Art Guild since 1998.
Why do I create? Because I have to!
