Vija Hamilton’s art career began with a B.A. degree in Fine Art and World History at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and a M.A. degree in Art at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
As an Art Specialist for thirty-one years, she shared her expertise and appreciation of art in the public schools of Minnesota and Southern Nevada. She has participated in over one hundred local, national and international exhibitions, and has won several awards in juried shows.
She is a long time resident of Southern Nevada and brought her art to Boulder City in 1996. Her art has been featured in a solo Fine Art Miniature Exhibition at the Las Vegas Art Museum. Fifteen of her works were exhibited in a Clark County Library gallery on a single
theme titled “Fascinating Amaryllis.” In 2004 she was selected as Featured Artist at the Boulder City Art Guild Gallery.
Vija is a multifaceted artist. She devotes her creative talent to drawing, painting, printmaking, fine art miniatures and original note cards. Her works are held in numerous private collections. “Creating abstract and realistic art in my own unique style, drawing on ideas in our environment as well as making social comments through visual expression are my challenges and goals.”
Vija is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Las Vegas Art Museum and the Boulder City Art Guild. Her work has been exhibited in the Boulder City Art Gallery in the Boulder Dam Hotel for many years and is highly respected by her peers.
